Feed-in Tariff scheme
The Feed-in Tariff (FiT) is a government scheme allowing members to generate and use their own renewable and low-carbon electricity – by installing solar panels for example. Any unused electricity can be sold back to the local electricity grid.
The government has closed the FiT scheme to new applicants from 1st April 2019. It’s set to be replaced by the new Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) scheme from 1st January 2020.
