Switching away and leaving OVO
To leave OVO you simply need to sign up to a new energy supplier. Before you do, it's good to check a couple of things:
Is your account in debt? If so, we may ask you to clear the debt before you leave us.
Will you have to pay exit fees? Some of our plans include exit fees if you leave before the end of your contract.
14-day cooling-off period
Your 14-day cooling-off period begins on the day you start your switch. During this time, you can come back to OVO without paying exit fees to your new supplier.
Opening meter readings
You get a 10-day window to give your opening meter readings. It begins 5 days before your switch date, and finishes 5 days after.
Your new supplier has to then get your readings checked by a third party. This is so they can make sure they match up with your past readings.
Final bill and refund
After your readings were checked, your new supplier will send them to us. We'll use those readings to create final statements and close down your account. Gas and electricity readings are sent separately so you may get two final statements. This can take up to 6 weeks.
If you’ve any credit remaining on your account after your final bill, we’ll refund it to your bank account within 10 working days, then we’ll cancel your Direct Debit.
