We work out your energy-use charges daily based on your smart meter readings, but we send your bills (we used to call these statements) monthly by post or email and collect your Direct Debit once a month.

If your smart meter sends monthly readings

We work out your energy-use charges monthly based on your smart meter readings and your bills and payments are also on a monthly basis.

If you have a traditional meter

We work out your charges based on the readings you send us – if we haven’t received your reading(s) we’ll estimate your energy use so it’s a good idea to send us your readings each month to keep your bills accurate

To make sure you’ve actual readings on your monthly statements, the best time to send a reading is on the date we bill you each month.

If you can’t send a reading on the date we bill you, we’ll estimate your energy use for any days between your last manual reading and your billing date. So if you send a reading 3 days before your billing date, we’ll estimate your energy use for the last 3 days of the month.

You can see your latest bill online around 5 days after your billing date.

You can also check your up-to-date energy-use charges and account balance on the ‘Home’ screen of your online account.
